THE OPPORTUNITY: 

Reporting to the Construction Manager – Infrastructure, the Senior Safety Advisor  is responsible for ensuring the safety and health of employees through the delivery of professional safety services, promotion and implementation of the Site Safety Management System (SMS) and delivery in a timely and professional manner in regard to health and safety related matters.

We have two positions available on a 2:1 FIFO roster from Perth, based at our Pilgangoora Operations in the Pilbara region available.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Providing specialist health and safety advice and support to the Construction Manager, Department Managers, and project site team to assist with risk management and decision-making activities
  • Proactively utilising the Health and Safety Management Systems to apply Health and Safety practises and initiatives on site that lead to achieving Health and Safety objectives and Team KPI targets
  • Support the business to effectively and consistently apply and review risk management processes including Quarterly Risk Reviews and Semi Quantitative Risk Assessments
  • Undertake or assist project contractors in accident and incident investigations and ensuring investigations are completed to a quality that will ensure root causes are identified and corrective actions are in place to prevent a recurrence
  • Review and analyse the project team health and safety performance and assist with achieving the safety performance expectations
  • Assist with roll-out, implementation and compliance of any future health and Safety campaigns – including the oversight of communication of such campaigns between projects and operations
  • Any other duties as directed by site Safety Superintendent, Construction Manager or HST Manager.

 ABOUT YOU:

  • WA Driver’s Licence and full Australian Working Rights
  • Diploma in Workplace Health & Safety and minimum 5 years’ experience in a resource safety role (experience in civils and infrastructure will be highly regarded)
  • Certificate IV Training and Assessment (desirable)
  • Understanding of Safety Management Systems, Legislative Compliance, and Safety Data Interpretation and Analysis
  • Advanced PC skills and computer literacy
  • Experience in Incident Investigation (ICAM certification - Essential Factors preferred)
  • Previous experience in an emergency response team, technical writing, health and hygiene and CRM/Forwood.
