THE OPPORTUNITY: 

Reporting to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, the Geotechnical Engineer will provide support to our already established team with the review and assessment of ground conditions, deliver recommendations on excavation methodology and the appropriate levels of ground support to ensure a safe and efficient mining environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducting geotechnical inspections and providing geotechnical advice to Production and Planning.
  • Identification of Geotechnical hazards throughout all pits.
  • Ensure regular Geotechnical inspections occur within operational areas.
  • Geotechnical assessment of open pit and dump designs.
  • Providing input to drill and blast design to ensure wall control compliance.
  • Create and review adherence to Ground Control Management Plans for each operation.
  • Ensure adherence to Ground Control Management Plan.
  • Provide geotechnical information to and liaise with other mining and geology personnel to ensure optimal extraction of the ore while conforming with legislated geotechnical requirements.
  • Keep operators and staff up to date with ground awareness training.
  • Collection, analysis and reporting of structural pit data and recommend changes where necessary.

ABOUT YOU:

  • 1 years’ experience within a Geotechnical role.
  • Relevant tertiary degree in Geotechnical Engineering or similar.
  • MS Office.
  • Knowledge of statutory safety requirements relevant to the processes.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment.
  • Strong commitment to safety and the environment.
