THE OPPORTUNITY:

Reporting to the Training Supervisor, the Trainer and Assessor Process Plant is to ensure the processing team is receiving best standard training and instruction as well as provide a thorough and consistent training system across the process team. This includes Conducting VOC’s for new and existing personnel, support the processing, mechanical and electrical supervisors. Delivering plant area training competencies to operators, and development of safe work practices (SWP) in all areas of the processing plant. There will also be a requirement to coordinate isolation requirements in relation to planned shutdown events.

This is a permanent full-time position which operates on a FIFO 2/2 roster from Perth or DIDO from Port Hedland.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Maintain training matrix for each team,

  • Identify internal and external training requirements and make recommendations
  • Review training matrix and Report on internal training / VOC requirements
  • Provide monthly update to supervisors

Development and maintenance of all sectional site-specific training documentation and assessments.

Support supervisors and allocate training needs to individuals, setting out expectations

  • Coach SME operators towards delivering practical training to trainees in the field
  • Review individual progress and make recommendations towards completion
  • Report on individual progress to immediate supervisors

Develop SWP’s utilizing SME and risk assessments (JHA)

Competent in Permit to work system

  • Deliver Permit to Work Training
  • Support supervisors and apply isolations as requested during planned and unplanned situations to reduce production delays when limited authorized isolators available

Assist with incident investigations as requested, utilizing your expertise to identify improvements, provide recommendations and actions for remediation.

Ensure permits are prepared and remain compliant with our procedures throughout the permit to work and isolation process.

Design isolation plans to ensure plant equipment is intrinsically safe to work on

Prepare work permits and assign isolation lists specific to the scope of work

Technical Responsibilities

  • Monitor and operate the processing plants via the Citect control system,
  • Monitor, fixed plant infrastructure, equipment status and trends so that plant stability is optimized and production and quality targets are met
  • Operate equipment within instructed set parameters
  • If unable to meet required parameters escalate to the immediate Shift Supervisor
  • Recommend changes to parameters if improvement opportunity identified
  • Actively deal with & rectify if necessary minor variations in the plant’s performance
  • Provide feedback to the Metallurgists, Supervision and Maintenance regarding plant performance.

Health Safety and Environment

Proactive approach to safety, always following the Life Saving Rules and assisting others in knowing and following the Life Saving Rules.

Actively contribute to achieving a LTI free workplace

  • Recognize and controlling risks before undertaking tasks
  • Discuss risks associated with tasks with Shift Supervisor if risk rating is High or Extreme
  • Participate in coaching and training in risk management.
  • Setting an example for others to follow

Present Fit for Work

  • Manage activities on site including camp to minimize fatigue risk
  • Take part in D&A testing, as per site policy
  • Working to appropriate PLS risk control standards
  • Immediately Inform site supervision of fatigue and drug and alcohol issues

Contribute to achieving zero reportable environmental incidents

  • Continue to review risks and controls required to minimize risks prior to starting tasks
  • Discuss risks (including Take 5 if necessary) associated with tasks before commencing task
  • Acknowledge and or confirm expectations when issued tasks
  • Perform all task as required while eliminating or minimizing exposure to risks
  • Any incidents are immediately reported and investigated to prevent reoccurrence. 
  • Suggest changes to work packages to reflect environmental hazards found.
  • Immediately report incidents or issues and assist in completion of environmental incident investigations.

Continuous Improvement 

  • Contribute to the effective control of expenditure to ensure a cost effective, efficient mining operation.
  • Involved in ongoing improvements to processing systems to deliver efficient plant operations
  • Discuss with Supervisor’s any improvements that can or could be made to plant operating manuals, training documents or isolation and tagging processes and procedures
  • Discuss with Supervisor’s improvements that can be made to plant to identify, analyze and rectify process bottlenecks
  • Give feedback as to the effectiveness of Work Packages for the Processing Department and discuss possible improvements
  • Before or during the execution of tasks, identify areas for improvement and discuss possible improvement actions to the Shift Supervisor
  • Contribute to discussions to improve process and equipment bottlenecks
  • Contribute to discussions to improve recovery
  • Contribute to discussions to improve utilization of processing team
  • Review SWP’s with SME to confirm compliance and up to date
  • Review training manuals to confirm relevance and accuracy of content in line with plant modifications and changes.
  • Flexibility supporting business needs to adjust roster and support plant shutdown requirements to assist with isolations, permits, and contractor VOC requirements

ABOUT YOU:

  • You may be a crew trainer who wants to move into Training and Assessing full time, or maybe you are an experienced Trainer and Assessor with the TAESS00011 Assessor Skill Set or TAESS00014 Enterprise Trainer-Skill Set or TAE40110 or TAE 40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
  • High Risk Licenses – including Forklift, EWP & Crane
  • Ability to be flexible in a dynamic workplace where we are ramping up quickly.
  • Minimum WA Manual C Class Drivers Licence.
  • Willingness to undertake a full site medical and provide a current National Police Clearance.
