THE OPPORTUNITY: 

Reporting to the Technology Infrastructure Lead, the primary purpose of the Network Infrastructure Engineer is to ensure the stability, integrity, high availability and efficient operation of Pilbara Minerals network and communication systems including voice, data and RF networks.

Participate actively to the design and delivery of complex critical network infrastructure changes across the organisation, whilst maintaining the ongoing supportability, stability, integrity and high availability of Pilbara Minerals IT/OT Network and Communications assets.

This role requires focus and leadership to coordinate with all stakeholders and vendors/contractors, reduce unplanned work effort while improving the outcomes of planned work execution.

Responsible for monitoring and optimising network operation, ensuring that appropriate planning and service response is effective to reduce and minimise fault interruption.

Following agreed procedures, respond to requests for assistance by providing information to enable fast resolution of problems ensuring a high quality of support and fast turn-around times for incidents.

This is a permanent full-time position which based at West Perth office, Monday to Friday.  

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to;

  • Collaborate with business unit Leaders to assess near and long-term networking and communications needs.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of short and long-term strategic plans to ensure network services meet the current and future operational requirements of Pilbara Minerals.
  • Document the network and communications technical design, layout, including protocols and standards used, as well as configuration.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery.
  • Manage and ensure optimal operation and availability of related Network infrastructure including but not limited to;
    • Network & Communication assets
    • Fibre Optic Services
    • Microwave, point to point and Wi-FI systems.
  • Complete appropriate Root Causes Analysis process and documentation to identify actions to mitigate fault re-occurrence, and drive implementation of agreed actions.
  • Follow Pilbara Minerals Technology methodologies including request, change and problem management.
  • Ensure risk assessments are performance for area of responsibility, and associated risks are captured.

    • Network & Communication assets

Operational Management & Governance

  • Manage and ensure optimal operation of all network and communications infrastructure.
  • Manage and ensure effectiveness of overall network security.
  • Perform network performance testing and provide network performance statistics and regular reports to the Technology leadership team.
  • Ensure system documentation and associated maintenance plans for all network technology and related assets are up-to-date and stored in appropriate knowledge repositories.
  • Participate in the asset management of all Network Infrastructure assets within the Pilbara minerals environment.
  • Ensure all technology assets are documented and record maintained in Pilbara Minerals asset register.

Other

  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining Network equipment
  • Identifying and resolving network / communication technology faults and issues,
  • Implementing and maintaining appropriate system and security controls, security levels and systems access in according to the agreed design, process, and procedure,
  • Developing and maintaining relevant documentation and procedures,
  • Liaise with service providers and progress improvement to service levels for the company (incl. use of Service Level Agreements);
  • Coordinate technology network service requirements and recommend new initiatives,
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and unsupervised to deliver initiatives on time.
  • Prioritize and schedule problems. Escalate problem (when required)
  • Follow Pilbara Minerals change management procedure and take necessary care and ownership when performing changes.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Tertiary qualification in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the operational support of network and communications services for a large-scale organisation.
  • Previous experience in the operation of network services within organisations that require 24/7 availability of services.
  • Extensive experience in the roll out of complex network services for medium multi-site organisations and operations of perimeter firewalls including Palo Alto or Fortigate.
  • High level understanding of routing protocols (BGP and OSPF) and network Quality of Service (QoS) configurations, management and support
  • Technically minded and able to effectively communicate with IT and OT Engineers on a deep technical level.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills with excellent presentation skills.
  • Ability to perform detailed technical troubleshooting of operational system issues.
  • Excellent problem and analytical solving skills
  • Hold Enterprise Routing and Switching Specialist certification in Juniper JNCIA-ENT / SP, Juniper JNCIA-SEC.
  • Cisco CCNA certification
  • Current C Class Australian Driver’s License
